How IITAANZ collects, uses, and protects your personal information.

Overview

IIT Alumni Association New Zealand Inc. (IITAANZ) complies with the Privacy Act 2020. We collect only information necessary for membership administration and community engagement.

What we collect

  • Name, email address, and contact details
  • IIT campus, degree, and graduation year (for membership verification)
  • City/region and chapter affiliation
  • Membership status and payment records
  • Portal activity necessary for community features (events, messages)

How we use your data

  • Administer membership and maintain the statutory member register
  • Communicate about events, AGMs, and society business
  • Enable networking features on the member portal
  • Meet legal obligations under the Incorporated Societies Act 2022

We do not sell or commercially exploit member data.

Data storage

Member data on our community platform (iitnz.netndata.com) is self-hosted in New Zealand. This public website (www.iitaa.nz) does not store personal information beyond what you submit via contact forms once connected to a backend service.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:

  • Request access to your personal information
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Export your profile data via self-service tools on the member portal
